The ONA organization
was founded in June 1999 to promote the rights and interests of Middle
and Eastern European women.
Many women from Middle and Eastern European countries come to Western
Europe in the hopes of improving their lives.
But often they find that their human rights and their rights as workers
are severely violated.
Trafficking in women is the most extreme form of human rights abuse and
must be looked at in the context of the migration of women.
“Ona” is the word for “she” in
several Slavic languages. ONA’s work centers on securing the
rights of women during the process of migration.
